Hot-air balloons, those light and colorful objects you see floating in the morning and evening sky or glowing in groups at local festivals. But what do you really know about them and how do you explain them to children?

A new book, ABalloonC was released by WGH Arts LLC on November 16, 2007. The book was written and photographically illustrated by William G. Hosford, a school Library-Media Specialist and balloon pilot. This non-fiction book describes many of the parts of a hot-air balloon system in alphabet book form. Written for elementary school children ages 3 – 9, the book also features informative and fun sidebars for older students and adults. The page called "Balloons and Ballooning" further describes the parts of a balloon system as well as what would be expected on a typical balloon flight.  Finally, the back cover shows three view of a hot-air balloon and identifies the locations of the many parts mentioned in the book.

The book is available at natural history museum gift shops, independent bookstores, and several distributors. Books may also be ordered directly from the publisher.
