Geodes. Those fascinating rocks that are so unpretentious on the outside are beautiful and unique on the inside. But what do you really know about them and how do you explain them to children?

A new book, Geo the Geode was released by WGH Arts LLC. The book was written and photographically illustrated by William G. Hosford, a school Library-Media Specialist and former Earth Science teacher. This non-fiction book describes characteristics of rocks in general, and geodes in particular, especially their geographic distribution, their formation and uses. Written for elementary school children ages 5 – 11, the book also features sidebars for older students and adults. A glossary and index are included.

The book is available at natural history museum gift shops, rock and mineral shops, independent bookstores, and several distributors. Books may also be ordered directly from the publisher.
